Default Help In Choosing Correct Size Rims

I have a 2001 V6 mustang. I saw a picture of a saleen mustang of the same year with 18x9 (front) - 18x10 (rear) Chrome Saleen Wheels. It looked very impressive and was wondering if that size rim would also fit my mustang.
Would anyone also happen to know why someone would put larger wheel on the rear?
Any help would be greatly appreciated; thanks!

Welcome geryogery

It is pretty common practice to run staggered on Stangs. I do 'cuz I like the look and performance offered by large meats at all four corners.

I will link you to American Muscle '99~'04 wheels section for LOTS of choices for your ride. I also recommend you hit up Tire Rack and TomZwheels for more exotic choices.

Thanks for the info. But do you know the benefit of having a wider tire on back than on the front?

A wider tire can offer a softer compound tire for improved traction/grip as well as a more aggressive look, IMO.

Question

American Muscle has some great looking ones and the price seems good. I'm thinking of getting some complete with tires. I'm wondering what kind of reputation the store has. Have you bought any from them?

AM is WONDERFUL and tend to have descent tires as a combo sale.

Tires should be determined by your driving needs and decided by your budget... What are they?

Cool

I would like to get Chrome S Style Wheel 18x9 front - 18x10 back.

They suggest 275/35-18 for the front using a NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 Tire or a Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z II Tire.
For the back they suggest 285/35-18 using once again a NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 Tire or a Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z II Tire.

This is mostly a weekend car; no extreme driving here except for the occasional punch of the gas just to have the neighbors take notice. I was thinking of taking the less expensive Sumitomo tires along with some Chrome Locking Lug Nuts.

You think it'll work?

That tire size will be fine and either tire is going to be good for your needs. If you are lowered, you may rub just a smidge on fender liner, but no biggie.

As for locking lug-nuts, I recommend Gorilla lug-nuts and cannot do so enough. These are locking on ALL 5 LUGS of each wheel. The reason I recommend this is due to the possibility of someone lifting your ride, removing 4 lugs and "yanking" on your wheel and snapping lug to remove it.

Your threads are 1/2"x20 RH with normally a 60° conical seat. I also recommend you pick up a set for a truck with 6 lugs per wheel. That way you will have some extras in case you lose some. Pick up an extra wrench when they arrive with the coupon inside ($15.00 or so). I have been running these lugs for well over 20 years and are the best I have seen.

Thanks.

I will seriously look into the gorilla locks.

But back to the rims; by lowered you mean purposely lowering the suspension?

If that's the case then I am not worried since that is not really my style. I like the height just the way it is.

Yup, referring to shorter springs for a reduced ride height.

The Gorilla lugs are going to be like $60.00 or so after shipping for a set of 25. With the extra wrench, you are looking at a $75.00 investment to protect your ride.

Remember, when someone takes your wheels, they get your TIRES as a bonus.

PS. Now post some pics of new wheels already
