Default Fix-a-flat?

So my one tire has been losing about 10lbs a week and it appears it just has a bad seal, maybe the chrome chipped at the seal, not sure. Anyway, I am leaving Wed for Mustang Week, 400mi, and dont have time to really diagnose it further. Would it hurt anything to add a can of fixaflat?

The only possible issue I am aware of is that you may harm your tire pressure sensor leaving it inoperative.

I have never used it, but hear that it can get hard over time and create an imbalance in your wheels. If so, this will lead to some adventurous driving on the freeways.

Best to take some soapy water in a spray bottle and try to find the leak. You may get lucky and have a bad valve stem seal. If still can't find it, dunk the wheel in a pool and look for the...

haha, thanks guys. i looked up differant tire sealants and found that Victor is the best and gaurantees it wont imbalance your tires and will fix the leak for the LIFE of the tire. I am not running the sensors so no big deal there.

Just take it to a tire shop and have them patch for you.

if a plug would fix it i'd go that route but with it being a possible seal issue i was considering the sealant

I've never had a problem with it but I've never used on my Mustang either. Like you said it can't be plugged if it is a seal issue...

If it's a bad tire bead, fix a flat won't fix it since it will never come in contact with the bead.

Double check the valve stem and the valve stem core. Most likely it's leaking from there and not the bead. If the stem core is loose, bad, tighten it or replace it. A bad bead is pretty unlikely unless you have a lot of curb rash.

i read too that with a bad seal you can over inflate it 10psi and it might seal it off then just deflate to proper psi. the tires say max 50psi max, they were at 35psi but i' bumped them up to 40psi. I'm leaving for mustang week in about 5hrs. 400mi each way
