Default Blowout

I had a blow out today on the way home, and lost my right rear tire. There was a nail in it. I am trying to decide if I need to replace all 4 or just the 1. I dont know if these tires are original or not. I have 75k miles on the car, but I bought it used. Is it possible they are original? They dont have a ton of tread left, but then I dont know how much they originally had.

What do you think?

Buying a single tire depends on two things... the tread life remaining on the other three and if you like the tires in general.

If you like the tires, put a coin in the tread and take a close-up pic and post it here. IMO, if they don't have much tread left, you are likely to be best served to buy a full set.

Take a look at Tire Racks Decision Guide in Choosing a new tire thread and see what fits your needs assuming you decide to replace them all.

+1, I've been through several nailed tires and those have always been my guiding principles. How much tread is left? Do I like the tires.

If you like the tires but you have less than 50% tread left on the three "good ones", it's a good idea to at least replace two of the tires. The one that needs replacing and one other one that is the most worn or has the most defects (like patches etc).

If you don't like the tires then you should buy a whole new set.

Ya, they do seem pretty low on tread. The wheel looks ok, is there normally any rim damage?

There could be if you drove on the blown tire, but can tell by looking close. If you dont see rim cut through the tire, you should be fine. Agreed with 03 GT... new tires, most definitely.
