Default Tire Question

I just recieved my new set of rims for my 1967 Mustang. Now I am looking for some tires to put on them. They are 15x7 for the front and 15x8 for the rear. I am either going with a 205 or 225 for the front tire, but the back isn't decided. I am thinking about getting a set of 255s for the rear, but I don't know if they will fit. So my question is will a 255 size tire would fit good on a 8" rims or would I be better off sticking with a 245 or 235. Also would a 225 tire fit a 8" rim or is that just too small? I don't want a big bulge and I definitely don't want to stretch the tires.

On a 15"x8" wheel, I would imagine that most 255's will be rated to fit (generally, a 245 is max). As for clearance, it is going to be probably 1.5" wider than the outside of the wheel itself, so clearance depends on the available room. I cannot tell you much about clearance on your ride and even less without knowing the off-set of your wheels. A 225 will fit on an 8" wheel, but agree it will run a bit on the "thin" side.

What are the actual sizes of the tires you are considering?

205/50/15 or 225/50/15 for the front
255/60/15, 225/50/15(only with 205 fronts) ,or 245/60/15 for the rear.

The 255/60/15's are looking to run on a 5"~10" wheel, depending on the actual tire you choose... so I don't see any fitment issues there

As for the possible bulge, you will get more with the higher profile tire, so you need to do some research on how that tire actually "fits" an 8" wheel.
