Default Mach 1 wheels...

I just traded my old 97 Cobra wheels for a set of Mach 1 wheels. Few questions...

Are they still 17x8? If not, will I be able to run a 275 out back? I want some thicker tires back there but I still wanna be safe.

If it makes any difference, the tires would be 275/40-17 Sumitomo HTRZ II. Had them in 245s on my Cobras and I liked them.

This depends on the year of Cobra wheels in which you buy. Some are 8" and the later ones are 9". You need a 9" wheel to safely run a 275 tire, otherwise you are going to need to stick with 245's.

Ooops.... I think the Mach 1 wheels are 8", but not positive. If they do not have tires mounted on them, you can measure from the INSIDE of each lip of rim across the middle and will be 8" or 9".

2003redmach.... what size tires are you running? If they are OEM, than I can tell by the size.

They do have tires mounted on them. They are all 245/45 at the moment but I want something a little bigger for the rear.

If they have a 245 and are the ORIGINAL tires, they are 8" wheels. If you can look from directly behind the tire and NOT see any of the wheel itself, you have an 8" wheel for sure and a 245 is max you will properly fit.

If you REALLY want to run these wheels with wider tires, you can send them off to Weldcraft Wheels to have them widened, but will cost you some $$$ to do so. If interested, I can give you more detail via PM as I have done this on two different sets of wheels.
