Default bigger tires

Hey everyone, so right now i am running a 275/35 out back, and was thinking about moving up to a bigger size. But if I do that would I have to get a whole new set of wheels? Or would wider tires fit on my current set of wheels?

thanks!

Need more info, mister

What is the width of your wheels?
What is the diameter of your wheels?

If you are running a 9"xxxx wheel, you are pretty much stuck with a 275 unless you possibly find a much higher profile tire (I could not find one, but don't have enough info to search completely)

If you are runniing a 20"x9" diameter wheel, you really have no options other than your current 275.

yes they are 20" all around
to find the width/diameter, just take a ruler or measuring tape to find it?

I peeped your Garage and found out you roll on 20"s, but will not be able to measure width soo easily. Can you take a pick looking down the side of your car to see how the sidewall meets the edge of your wheels. This is not scientific, but can probalby tell you your width based on how the tires fit.

Please give me all three numbers on your tires to help us figure it out.

Yes....

If those are the 275/35's out back, you are not running a 9" wheel and I would say that your rears are 10" (I am tempted to say 10.5", although not likely), but can probably confirm on the back-inside of the spokes (forgot to mention this earlier). Get a mirror and look at the backside of the 5 spokes and should see some embossed numbers & lletter like "50J" and would be the off-set. You may also see a "10" on there too.

As for fronts, it appears you have a similar fitment, but angle is not soo good. I would guess you have a 255 up front? If so, I would say that you have a 9" wheel there and, again, can confirm on the back of the spokes.

yes they are 275/35's out back and 255/35's up front. i did not see anything on the back of the spokes, but in the inside of the wheel, there was this thing that said "1/20Z" on it (on the rear). Not sure if that means anything. I think that the rears are 10in wheels and the front are 9in. on the front it had a thing on the wheel that said "1/20Z" also. again not sure what/if that means anything

OK... if you do have 9"s & 10"s, you are really looking at a 275 max up front (I think a 265 is a better fit nearly all the time) and up to a 305 max (in most cases) out back, but think a 295 is a better fit. Each tire will have a specific max/min wheel width depending on manufacturer.
