Default Another question about these Ford wheels

As I understand it, these Ford 17 inch wheels should be 8 inches wide, but they have 275mm wide tires on them, which seems like too much for an 8 inch wide wheel. Did Ford make these in any wider sizes?

If they do indeed have a set of 275's they are indeed to wide for an 8" wheel. Little difficult to tell from this angle, can you post a pic looking down the side like this:

This will be much easier to tell, but have never seen a 9" OEM Bullitt wheel.

Depends on the brand of tire. I ran some Kumho 275's on Bullitt wheels for winter rims. The style I had on them ran skinny, and were narrower than the BFG 265's on my regular rims.

I was thinking of replacing these 275/40ZR17's with 255/45's in the back and stock size 245/45's in the front when I have to get new tires. I just wanted to make sure these weren't 9 inch or bigger wheels.

oops - I just measured the back wheel with my high tech wheel measuring device, and I calculate it to be 9 inches wide. So, I guess this must be an aftermarket wheel?

Nope... that indeed is an 8" wheel, as the wheel width is measured from the inside of the rim, not the outside. You need to stick with a 245/45/17" tire max to have proper fitment.

that's cool, I was planning on going back to the stock size, with the exception of using 255's on the back, I figure if the 275's are working fine, a 255 would be even better. I might need them soon too, this car seems to have a tendency to spin the tires when I'm turning a corner and shift from 1st to 2nd. or maybe that's just a problem with my foot...

Yes.... I realize one can get an aftermarket Bullitt in 9", but the wheel he has here is an 8".

Jazzer

PS. Stoenr... why get a 17" wheel for DR's? You should be rockin' a set of 15"s for the launch-pad, homie. You been smokin' agin?
