Are you looking to adapt a non-Malibu wheel onto this car? If so, not such a fan of wheel adapters and for the following reasons.

1. An adapter will move the wheel outward between 1/2"~1" and might lead to rubbing, so some measurements need to be done to assure clearance.
2. They leave a "hidden" set of lug-nuts behind the wheel and need to be a bit more diligent to make sure they don't get loose behind the wheel.
3. They place at least a small amount of additional strain to axles/hubs
4. The tire diameter should be confirmed to be compatable with clearance and speedo/ODO accuracy.

None of these are necessarily deal-breakers, but should be considered when looking to install a wheel not meant for ones make/model.

Well, issues 1~4 still apply, so installing wheel adapters should take LOTS of consideration to make sure they are gonna work. If they are installed, be sure to confirm tightness a couple times, after a week of being installed. The alum. spacer, as well as new wheels, will tend to loose some torque during this time.

Unhappy

k my prob with my 88' is the 4 lug. i bought some crap knockoffs thinking itd work but the adaptors didn't fit the old 4lug system that i have. Now i have these rims i've gotta sell. Never wanted to use adaptors in the first place. Ive read up on the use of them and how it effects your braking system and I am a crazy *** driver
but I want spokes and can't find ones that'll fit anywhere!!! wTF :'(

Sounds like you are looking to go from your 4-lug to a 5-lug wheel and don't know of any adapters that do this The problem is pretty obvious as to why, but figured you were looking for just a different 5-lug pattern.

This gets into off-set/back-space of wheels, along with diameter, clearance of calipers and ALL sorts of different things and why I am not a fan of "adapting" wheels between different makes/models. They will have no real adverse effect on your braking system, per se, but sounds like you may have misunderstood something.

Well I shopped everywhere and couldn't find a 4 lug spoked rim that would fit, so i thought maybe getting spokes that required an adaptor would work. Bought spoked rims, adaptors didn't fit on my old 4 lug system so i've just scratched that idea, sell the rims and i'm going to change my lx 4 lugs with a five lug from a 5.0 that is the same year as my car. Think i'll have any problems??
