Default S197 wheels

Hi guys new member thanks for having me. I know this issue has been beat to death, but I can never find a straight answer. Im wanting to put old school cragar ss wheels on my 05 gt. Since there's no white letter tires available in anything but a 15 inch wheel, id like to go that route. Ultimately id like a 15x4 front and a 15x10 rear with alot of negative offset so it has the deep dish look. Does anyone know if this is even possible, and what mods are required if any? Also if someone has done this before id love to see pics.

Odd, I posted a reply and it disappeared.

People have done a 15x10 drag wheel and you have to modify the panhard bracket as I recall. It's been so long though that I can't remember what you have to do, other than it involved cutting a piece of the bracket off for clearance. There should be a thread if you search though.

For the front I'm not sure that a 15x4 will clear the caliper. The smallest wheel is the V6 at 16" and you need the V6 caliper bracket. You MIGHT be able to shave the caliper some and use a spacer, but it will be pretty tight I think trying to fit the 15" wheel up front.

yeah I've seen the drag wheels on a few s197's. I would like to go with the old cragar ss wheel in like a 15x8 or 15x10 with a negative offset so they stick out aways. Because I like washing my car alot I guess lol. The fronts you you think will not clear the brakes? Even being that skinny? I think they might make a 16 inch or even a 17 that is the old cragar ss design, but then im dealing with the issue of no white letter tires available in those sizes. Thats really the look im going for. I cant believe all the tire manufacturers flat refuse to build anything white lettered in those sizes. There's gotta be a huge market for them.

I think that the 15" circumference is too small. It isn't the width of the wheel, but the circumference. The stock 16" on the V6 S197 is pretty close to the caliper already. I don't think that there is an inch of space. The GT front won't fit for sure because the 16" wheel won't fit, so you have to put the smaller V6 caliper bracket and disc on but I still think it won't clear the caliper with the 15" wheel.
