This article applies to the Ford Mustang V6 and Mustang GT (1994-2014).

You should place knowing how to change a tire as high on your priority list as knowing how to jump start or boost your car. While you might think the likelihood of your Ford Mustang experiencing a blowout is rare, the hard truth is a blowout can occur at any time, especially when driving over rough or uneven roads. If you put too much or too little pressure on your tires, or you run your tire tread depth down to 2/32" or less, a blowout could occur much sooner than you might think. The good news is you can change a flat tire in anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on how quickly and efficiently you work. Read on to find out how you can come to your own rescue should one of the tires on your Ford Mustang blow out.

  • Lift and adjust the tire so it fits securely on the wheel.
  • Re-install the lug nuts to secure the tire to the wheel.
  • Tighten the lug nuts using a star pattern; start with the bottom left lug nut, followed by the bottom right lug nut, then top lug nut, then finish with the top left lug nut and the top right lug nut. Doing so will ensure each lug is evenly and securely in place.
