This Isn’t Your Ordinary Mustang Boss 302

What you are looking at right here, is numero uno. Genesis. The very first one. It is number TT0001. TT stands for “Tooling Tryout,” which is essentially a pre-production model that was made in order to make sure that new tweaks worked as intended. So even though this is a late-model and newer Mustang, it still gets some well-deserved love from Muscle Car of the Week in the video below.

Meet the new Boss, same as the old Boss. In bringing back this iconic nameplate, Ford paid special attention to the things that made the original Boss 302 so unique. The original was made as a road-going version of the SCCA racer, as the rules required. It competed in Trans-Am, to much success, and the stripped-down road versions became legends in their own right.

The new Boss takes that same ethos and cranks it up. It is still stripped down, but the highlight remains the engine. The 5.0 Coyote motor pushes out 444 horsepower, and is different from other Coyote 5.0 motors. It has a high-ram intake manifold, a hot cam, and cylinder head porting. That gives you a screamer of a motor in the Boss 302.
