We knew this day would come. How could Ford not bring out a GT350R variant set completely for the racetrack? Well my friends, they have. Here is the new Ford GT350R-C. The successor to the fairly competitive Boss 302R will now lead the charge for Mustang Racing, and she’s set to debut at Watkins Glen this weekend.

The new GT350R-C still uses the same 5.2L flat-plane crank V8 that the road cars do, but since it has been prepped for competition, Ford Racing is mum about the details and the horsepower the car puts down to the tarmac. Additionally, the new GT350R-C gets a host of new aerodynamic packages to increase downforce, as well as a fully race-prepped cabin with a full FIA legal cage.

“Like so many Mustangs before it, the Shelby GT350R is a car born to race. We’re taking it to the track as the GT350R-C and we’re ready to see what it can do against the best competition in the world,” said Ford’s director of global performance, Dave Pericak.

The new Shelby GT350R-C will debut at this weekend’s IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race at Watkins Glen, and it will mark the first time we actually get to see this car being properly flogged on a racetrack. Let’s just hope it still has the nasty sound we’ve been hearing in all the videos. Oh come on, it definitely will.
