1968 Mustang GT Fastback Restomod Is a Perfect Driver

Numbers-matching factory restored cars are nice and all, but when you just want a decent car to drive without worrying about a little road grime, you go the restomod route. And when you want it to really drive well, you throw some extra cubic inches in front of the driver. If that’s what you are in search of, then this 1968 Ford Mustang GT fastback is probably your dream car.

This baby has had a frame-off rotisserie restoration, so it is factory fresh, although some things have been upgraded from stock to make it a bit more modern and a bit more fun to drive.  Powered by a 428 lifted from an Edsel, power is sent to a 9-inch Ford rear end to keep you hustling down the road. The corners are negotiated with a revised and updated steering system utilizing a rack-and-pinion setup, and all new suspension including the addition of anti-roll bars. Keeping the car planted is a set of staggered Continental rubber, mounted on original-style but much-larger 17-inch rims.

As you can expect, the inside has been well restored too, but for a restomod, it has otherwise been largely kept original. Individual bucket seats in black leather sit on each side of the gear lever for the Tremec 5-speed transmission. Perfect for a regular toy, if you ask me.
