Burning smell out of mufflers
I have MAC Axlebacks installed on my GT with an otherwise stock exhaust system. The passenger side muffler has recently begun to rattle at low rpms and I just assumed that the clamp came loose like it did once before. However, when I went to the back of the car there was an obvious smell of something burning coming out of the same muffler, not the smell of exhaust. The sooty buildup inside the tip is also more than usual. I'm going to take it to the shop tomorrow to get it all checked out, but could anyone chime in on what may be going wrong?

That's normal. It will take up to a couple of weeks (depending on how much you drive) to for that to go away. it's machining oil used for the bending of the pipes and to keep rust from forming while being stored.

Ditto the corrosion inhibitors and oils. As far as the rattle, my Stingers rattled on one side although the clamp was tightened to the specified torque. I ended up going to an autoparts store and bought some U-clamps to replace the clamps supplied with the axlebacks and problem solved.

does it have a sulfer smell? could be a problem with the cats.
my exhaust smell is kinda sulfery; not too bad, but definately noticable. in my case, i don't know if there is a problem with my cats, or if the 'amount' i smell is normal. not meaning to hijack the thread, but is there a way to potentially get rid of the smell?
