Default Sirius Satellite Radio Antenna

Does anyone know if the stock Sirius radio antenna can be used on an aftermarket system like a Kenwood or Pioneer? I'd like to use the stock antenna if possible to eliminate the need to add another dinglebob on the car.

Found the answer to my question. The Sirius tuner is located in the trunk, and apparently, the antenna will work with an aftermarket XM or Sirius tuner that's compatible with a Pioneer or Kenwood navigation system. Cool.

If your car came equipped with the sirius tuner it should be mounted in the area of the right rear wheel hump.

Yes, it will be compatible, but you will have to get an extension to connect the factory antenna to your new Sirius receiver.

I think this is the one I used:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_6071423...e.html?tp=1493

Very simple, the stock Sirius receiver is in the passenger side of the trunk, above the wheel. I just pulled up the carpet, undid the factory wiring, it connected directly to the extension after removing the plastic "connector" which wasn't needed. I took out the rear seat, 5 seconds to do, and then ran the wire under the carpet all the way to the front of the car and connected it to the new receiver. Maybe 15-20 mins total and works perfectly. Much better than mounting a new antenna and still having the factory on the trunk lid.

If you're wondering where to mount the new receiver, I did it under the center console, there is plenty of room behind the shifter around and near the cup-holders.

Mine is still where it was, just not hooked up to anything. I figured I would leave it in, in case I ever decided to take out my Kenwood head unit and put the factory shaker back in.

I got a factory Sirius unit. Was doing a spring install and found it. I will sale it. Make me an offer. I don't want to sale the antenna on the trunk due to there will be a hole there. Can't get sat radio in Alaska so I don't need it.You also don't get any wiring, unfortunately because the wiring is in a main harness.
