Need help locating annoying rattling sound!
#21
Yeah, then we're talking two different things, cause I hear it only when the sound is silent.
Mine is not (I'm thinking) TSB related; unless some other crap is rattling around inside the door panel. Haven't gone and taken it apart yet; but I do have the picture sequence on how to properly do it.
Someday. When it bugs me enough. And I have the time. And I'm not sitting here posting about it.

Yea, it's just more of an annoyance than anything major. Dealer just called and said they did the TSB repair just to be sure and it is still rattling. They also foamed the doors but still can't pinpoint where the noise is coming from. They are still working on it today. I guess I just need to turn up the radio and learn to live with the rattling!

When you hear the noise, push along the side of the drivers side dash where it meets the glass and the trim piece that comes down from the side of the windshield. That Front left corner gave me problems on my 08. I wonder if the '10 has the same issue.

Interesting...I will try that and see if it works. The dealer called and they think the rattling may be from a loose clip in the fender skirt. They fixed it and they claim they don't hear the noise anymore. I'm leery, as they have said this before.

Thanks Nat...definitely keep me posted. I picked mine up last night and heard the rattle again. Not fixed...they want it back next week. I will let you know if they find it as it could be the same problem with your car.

Solved!
Problem solved!! For any of you with the same rattling issue, have them look under the wheel well in the fender area. It took days to figure out but it had something to do with the way the fender was clipped onto the support/lip. Apparently the clip was placed onto the wrong side. Quick and easy fix. Forgive my lack of knowledge when it comes to the technical terms. All is right in the world now!!

Flashlight + toolbox (just in case) + some time = hopefully I can make it a DIY project. *
I wonder though: were you ever able to hear it in an environment other than everything turned off (radio, climate control, passengers yacking, ...) and windows rolled up?
My rattle is so faint, it's drowned out by any external noise. Hence my lackadaisical attitude towards the repair efforts. But it is there, and that fact, in itself, annoys me to some extent.
* Tried, looked, prodded, scoped: no luck. Must be a different rattle I'm experiencing, or I'm looking in the wrong place.

If I had the radio turned up and people talking in the car, I could not hear it. If I was listening to talk radio then I could hear it. It wasn't very loud, but just enough to be annoying. Also, some days it was pretty obvious and other days not so easy to hear. In the end, it was due to the wind and which direction I was going. It was more annoying on open highway with no barriers on the sides. Also, the shop supervisor at Ford had a pretty hard time hearing it. He heard it as a very slight fluttering sound. I seem to have "supersonic" hearing, so I think it was more annoying to me. I hope this helps in your situation.

OIL
I think i am late, we are 2011, but i had the same noise in my windows ( GT 2011), and i sprayed oil to the rub ( with the windows down ans with a rag to not leak) in all the rub perimeter except the down side, as magic the noise gone.
