I tried this out and it definitely helped with the 'muffled' sound.

I think the Shaker 500 comepletely sucks. Treble high and bass low like someone said seems to sounds best. Pretty sad my King Ranch had a upgraded radio from Ford that absolutely blew this one away. The Cobra I used to own was much better as well and that was back in 2003. People seem to be getting alot out of just upgrading the speakers only. Think I was reading that a while back in the audio section.

One last question: My 2011 stereo just says "Shaker" on it. It does not say Shaker 500 as my 07 did. Is it still the shaker 500? I ask because crutchfield.com needs to know...

Chain I am not sure. Mine just has Shaker on it as well. However, my car window sticker states Shaker 500 on it.

I really don't understand how people can think the shaker system is ANY good. Once you've owned aftermarket equipment, stock is an absolute joke including this shaker crap. My daughter has nothing more than an aftermarket Pioneer head unit and that alone blows away my mustang sound. The only thing "shaking" is my head at the lousy sound system!

If you have the factory subs in your trunk it is a Shaker 1000 if not it is a 500.

I wasn't aware a head unit had sound output.

The shaker system is by no means bad for a factory system, it was standard on the premium anyway so not like I paid anymore extra for it.

I just bought a base model V6 with stock audio. Sorry for the basic newbie question, but can I just replace the 5x7 speakers with better ones (or 6x9 if theyll fit) leaving the stock system and wiring there? Or would I need a new stereo and amp to feed better speakers?

I have a similar question. I want to replace the speakers in the door. Crutchfield lists these

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSA6...2R.html?tp=105

as compatible.
How hard would they be to install. I know I'll have to take the door panel off so I'm wondering how difficult that will be.
Thanks!

Also, if anyone has better speaker recommendations, I'm all ears!

I'm trying to figure out what wires on the back of the stock head until contain the "full range" signal that I can hook up to my JL Cleansweep and run to my new amps.

I found a wiring diagram here:
http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=710&viewfil...Navigation.pdf

Has anyone here hooked up a cleansweep? Which wires do I use to tap into the signal? Are the front and rear speakers full range signal...I assume the 8" door subs do NOT have a full range signal going into them?

I bought JL C5's for the doors, C2's for the rear, then I have a JL 400 amp to drive them. I'm using my old Memphis 1000D amp to run my single Diamond 12" sub. considered getting a stealthbox but they are so expensive...and I already have a nice sub. UNLESS...someone can tell me that a JL 13" will hit harder than my Diamond? I've been running 800+ watts to my Diamond.
