Default Pics of my double din install

Installed my new Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD in my GT today. Got an incredible deal on it from Amazon (40% off).

Spent two hours crafting the wiring harness. Besides the regular wiring harness (Metra 70-5521), I also had to wire in a 12v regulator to eliminate the Shaker amp pop noise (Radio Shack #7805) and a regular 12v relay to bypass the video playback restrictions. Took my time so I didn't have to go back and redo anything.

Dash kit installed on the radio (Metra 95-5812)

Testing in the car. Michael confirms that DVD playback is working

Buttoning everything up

iPod function works GREAT

Looks clean in the dash...tons better than what most aftermarket units look in other vehicles.

And here's some information I used to do the install:

Completing the wiring harness:
Avic-D3 Installation (56K GO AWAY!) - MustangForums.com

Installing the dash kit (also goes over other things):
HOW-TO Install AVIC-D3 w/out Shaker (LOTS OF PICS!!!) - MustangForums.com

Bypass procedure on Pioneer 4200DVD, 3200DVD, and 3200BT:
YouTube - Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD Bypass & AVH-P5200DVD Bypass

Parts used:
Pioneer IU200V iPod cable
Metra 70-5521 wiring harness (required for Shaker 500)
Metra 95-5812 dash kit
12v regulator - Radioshack #7805
12v automotive relay - Radioshack 275-0001

Clean looking install . Looks nice. Did you mean to link your resources at the bottom. If so, I think you forgot the actual links .

Looks good. I went with the navigation system on mine (since having a DVD running where the driver can see can get you a ticket here). I'm just curious, are you going to watch movies or just use it for music videos and such?

Looks good! How did you manage to get it so cheap?

looks good, i installed my clarion a few months back and it looks like almost the exact same install. Not to bad. I love my clarion, but i really wish i had done the ipad install like other users have. How much was your head unit? mine was $500 already marked down but i saw it for closer to $300 a few weeks back which is an amazing deal.

I just use my iphone for navigation if need be, so I didn't see the need for navigation in the dash. I can add the Pioneer navigation box to this radio down the road if I wanted to. I don't plan on watching movies while driving, I just did the bypass simply because I like to have total control over playback.

Amazon's deal was 30% off two Pioneer products, so I chose the head unit and the iPod cable. Then there was an additional 10% off coupon code that could be added to that, so 40% off total. I ended up paying $335 for everything.

Kinda looks like mine! But I have the 3100 which has been replaced by the 3200. I have mine bypassed with a switch in the center console to watch DVD's going down the road or to adjust the audio settings....

You should switch to a relay so you don't have to worry about all that.
