Car shut off while driving?!
#71
I have a bama race tune. So it shuts off and you're able to restart immediately? Or do you have to wait a bit (45mins)?

Mine has shut off several times after the car was started....in most situations it starters right back up. Most recently it shut off when pulling out my drive way....I reflashed the car with my tune and it started right up. I have time my car several times to Ford for this issue. The first several times they has no clue what was going on becuase there were no codes. Eventually they decided to replace the fuel pump and fuel filter. However, the last time I took the car in they said the pcm was giving the car wrong messages which was causing the car to not start. However since they replaced the pcm 2 years ago the car has stalled twice. At first I thought this might be specific to breenspeed...but sounds like it has happend to Bama tunes as well. Not sure of the source ...maybe tps? I have cleaned the throttle body multiple times...it was never dirty...but tried anyway. Aside from this gremlin my car has been great...hopefully with input from this forum we can get this figured out.
PS my car is a 2006 GT manual with 93 breenspeed tune

I figured my issue out finally. I replaced the fuel pump with a bigger pump and to my dismay it was still shutting off. So I thought crank sensor was going bad. Took the breather tube off of the throttle body and sprayed carb cleaner into the butterflies and closed them and put the breather tube back on and the car started and ran for a mimnute and shut back off, so it was not the crank sensor. I put the breather tube back on and notice that the rubber hose is not seated on correctly at the bottom so I loosen the bracket and realign the rubber hose that fits around the breather tube and the throttle body and tighten it down and bam car starts and runs everytime like a champ. I have my power back. In fact in 50 degree weather with overcast day my little roush charged 4.6 liter pulled 416hp and 416torque at a local open house at True Street, a local tuner in McKinney, TX. The moral of the story is check your breather tubes for leaks or improper seal around the throttle body. These cars can't and will not run right if the air is leaking BEFORE the throttle body, but AFTER your MAF sensor. Hope this helps.
