Thinking of getting a 2011 Mustang...V6 owners, do you regret not getting the V8?
I was never interested in the Mustang until they came out with the 3.7 V6. I actually bought a 2010 Fusion Sport in December and they announced the V6 Mustang like a month later! I'm debating on leasing or buying one after the Fusion is paid off.
I was just wondering if there are V6 owners that despite the added power are wishing they got the 5.0 V8? I haven't test driven either but a friend of mine said the 5.0 is like a totally different car...

I will give you my response since I bought a 2011v6. I got my fairly loaded. MSRP was over $29000.00 Equivalent v8 would be around $38000. So next is performance. V8 very quick, v6 quick. Cops quicker. I have almost got cought a few times get on er. Now, what will I do to my v6. Spend some money to make it mine. Putting in HID head and fog lights, CAI, probalby change to 3.73's, tuner, change mufflers. Total all that is probably around $3500. So now question is getting closer to v8 cost. V6 is now much quicker then stock, probably faster than most cars on road but still not as fast as v8. Since most relate to 0-60 times, v8 stock is like 4.4/4.5. V6 is 5.4 stock. After changes will be more like 5.0 maybe 4.9.
It is now been personalized and is mine. If I bought a v8 I would be doing the same thing, spending more to make it my own. All I can say is I am very very happy with my v6. It is just a PERSONAL CHOICE.

I had a brand new 2006 V6 and ended up trading it in 1 year later for a 2008 GT/CS. I love this GT/CS but, now that time has passed by and this new V6 is so powerful, I can tell you right now that if I could justify the cost difference of the trade in of my current GT/CS on the new V6 with the electronics package and glass roof, I would do it in a heartbeat.
Why you say? I have a V8, why would I want a V6? Well, when I had the V6, I did crave the V8. After having it, I tell myself I should have stuck with the V6. The extra power (if used) does nothing but get you in trouble. Now, the new V6 has almost the power of past 5 year's V8s. The 2011 models are smoother riding and quieter and everything else is improved also. So, I would say for me, the V6 is almost a perfect car. This is probably not the case for someone who has not owned both a V6 & V8. If I bought the 2011 V6 I, for sure would not wish I had bought the V8.

Problem with a base V8 is....well it's a base package which I for one would not want....

As Mustangmaster says, the 2011 V6 is so different you won't learn much from polling the S197 V6 owners. I bought my 2008 V6 because I was determined to get a convertible and didn't want to drop a big wad of cash into a convertible GT. I've done some basic mods that have transformed the performance over stock, but I still have to admit envy when I see (and hear!) a GT on the road. However, I don't think I'd feel that way if I was in a 2011 V6. Its 300 hp is all of the power that I would conceivably want as a DD. I wouldn't have one single ounce of regret.

I wouldn't waste the $$ on a v6. Either buy the 2011 GT Delux or get a used 05-010 GT. They are still faster than the v6 because of the torque.
Or buy a new 2010 GT with the $3500 rebate and talk them down. Will look just like the 2011 plus will be a v8.
If you want a 2011 GT then just wait and save up more $

I think a V6 is a viable alternative for most people...especially the new 300HP V6. Yeah, it doesn't have the torque curve that the 4.6 V8 has, but it pulls reasonably close and costs a hefty chunk of money less. Especially if you're going for it as a DD, I'd say a V6 is perfectly understandable.
In my case at least, most times I don't have to drive all that much so for me the 5.0 seemed worth while. Plus that V8 sound is just orgasmic
