Iphone 4 issue with sync

iOS4: BT music worked, phone didn't - now resolved
Hi,
Less than a week ago I bought my 2011 manual GT-Premium, Calif Special, Ingot Silver convertible
During an earlier test drive my iPhone 4 synced perfectly for phone and music - not so in my car! After reading the posts here, and working through syncmyride.com, I got everything to work! Here's what I did:
1. register w/ syncmyride.com. This registers extra sync features (traffic, news, etc) for your car and allows you to download and install Sync updates. Installing the update took a little effort (mostly to find a thumb drive that I have, that the car liked). Their directions are very clear (disclaimer - I work in IT).
2. I did the install diagnostics/check for updates/collect report.
3. After a lot of reading (manuals, FAQs, Troubleshooting, etc) I decided to 1) delete all profiles on the phone and car that knew each other. 2) turn off bluetooth on both.
**But this I think was the trick - do a Master Reset on the car**
Although my car is new, and it could see my phone, I thought that a clean slate (aka reboot) might be the answer.
The I turned everything back on (after turning off the engine and opening the door to make sure that everything was 'off'). Ta da! I have both phone and music exactly as described in the manuals.
Additional on/off proved that it 'stuck'. I knew it was good when it wanted to download my contacts, and did other things that it never did before.
