Default Buying a new car in Texas??

Does anyone know if you buy a new car from a Texas Ford dealer does the Texas DMV make the dealer collect a inventory fee? and if so, much much is it. I'm wondering if this salesman is just trying to tack on some extra profit for them. I'm from out of State so I won't be paying Texas tax or title

Also do most Texas dealers add a document fee to each sale and if so, how much should it run?

I would argue the fees. The dealers will usually remove these fees. I attached articles I found interesting:

Just extra profit for them and as far as I am aware they are not mandatory to charge. Most will remove those fee's to keep a sale.

I'm curious how you are getting out of paying state tax though. If you take delivery in Texas you should be charged tax for it as the item is purchased in Texas and delivered in Texas. Guess it has something to do with where it's first registered?

It's called VIT, Vehicle Inventory Tax. It's charged by the Texas State Comptroller. Just another way for the state of Texas to take money, for no reason at all, from business owners in Texas.

Ah politics and the assumptions that states have no need to charge taxes . . . I love it.

I would argue the fees too. It is the dealer who has to pay that and it should be taken out of the dealers share of the sale i.e the sale price of the car you paid. It should not be tacked on as another separate fee in addition to what you paid already. By Texas law, you are responsible for sales tax , title, and registration costs.

Chances are if you walk because of those fees, you'll be getting a call to come back because they're willing to drop them.

Hmmm

Franchise tax, for the privilege of doing busines in Texas

Property tax, for the property the store is on

Business property tax, for the property IN the business

Inventory tax, 3% tax on year end inventory in addition to the sales tax when you do sell it

Vehicle Inventory Tax, just because?

Sales tax, deffinately needed

lets not forget the employment taxes

after all of that, if you make a profit, you give 35% to the federal govt.

Do you REALLY think all of that is NEEDED?

sorry about being off subject

I'm more than willing to continue this discussion in another thread if you'd like. But lets keep it Mustang related. I shouldn't have posted off-topic in the first place. Posts with politically infused assumptions just get me going.
