4 years ago when I was 17, my parents bought me the v6 I have today (well, stock of course). I didn't know what to say; I was so happy, yet so humbled. I felt even after all the work I was putting into all of my grades, volunteering, and college applications, including my behavior and help around the house(while every other senior was catching senioritis), I felt I there was no chance in heck that I deserved what I had just been given and even told my parents that.
Moral of the story: be thankful for what you have, enjoy the fact that you received a new v8 at the ripe age of 17 (I know you haven't looked at your car insurance bill; look at it next time), save up your money for post-graduation, and respect your dad by focusing on grades, not "looking fancy".
Oh, and Camaros are awful.

Lol they're funny to read.
Onegoal, you already have a 2006 GT which is a nice car and you're 17! I'm 17 myself, and have a GT/CS and will be attending college in September as well. You're car is already a great car. If you hate it so much, sell it and wait for the price to drop on the 11's... And be grateful that you got a GT at your age! I'm grateful for mine and just grateful to have a car!
