Default 2011 Radio/Nav issues

I know that this issue has been discussed a bit. But having problems with my 2011 Shaker 500. The drivers side door speaker keeps cutting out, dealership checked the connections and actually switched the two door speakers. Problem is still there, so it eliminates a bad speaker. Bringing it back for a second time, and I am thinking it could be a bad head unit? They did say something about the pre-amp outputs? Does this make any sense to anyone?

Eh, a bad head unit is less likely than a bad connection somewhere between the head unit and the speaker. Yes, it is possible that the connection from the pre-amps on the HU aren't properly soddered (sp?) or the connection from the pre-amp to the speaker isn't properly connected. Pretty hard to tell without digging in and doing tests or just checking connections. It shouldn't be REAL difficult for the dealer to isolate the problem though.

Hi whaler417,

My name is Deysha with Ford Customer Service. I would like to escalate this for you. Could you message me your dealer, contact info, VIN, and mileage?

Dealer said it was the electronics module that needs to be replaced. Can anyone explain how this part works and where it is installed?

Just here to verify that she's a customer relations rep from Ford, and is completely legitimate. So don't fear giving her your VIN if the new dealer solution doesn't work either.

Good luck with the solution!

Third time to the dealer and they figured out the there was a loose connection. Apparently the amp is located near the rear of the car and there was loose connection from the factory. Don't know why they didn't look there first instead of replacing my electronics module and swapping my speakers, which they tried first.
