Default 2010 gear install woes

4.10 install on 06 and tranny work at the same shop few years back was flawless, so I do trust the owner of the shop will make this right...

Had his guys install 4.10s in the '10 GT on Wednesday. His guy took it out for a couple minutes and brought it back just before they closed. I paid up, started driving and felt something was wrong right away. I didnt have the Bama tune installed but there was a shudder that was nasty. Then I had all kinds of woes installing the tune when I got home, but that turned out I just needed to update the firmware on the X3. So I get the tunes installed yesterday morning and DTC's are all clear, car itself runs great, but that shudder at 21-23 and above 40 is still there. I dropped it off yesterday morning but havent heard back. I know he'll fix it, but just make me nervous as my 10 has only 2k miles on it. Anywho...I hope they find it and fix it!!

Well, got 'er back tonight. Vibration and noise all gone. I'll drive it off and on through the weekend but it appears they got it nailed down. Owner of shop was saying that they thought it was the driveshaft and somehow his installer didnt install just right throwing it out of balance a little.

And oh yeah - SONOVABEACH is she quick now!

I am sure you folks heard this a million times. But make sure you find a person that knows what they are doing and has experience dealing with mustangs. I got mine changed mine many times with many cars; however, my last Stang got changed recently and I hear this annoying whine whenever i drive. Its not that loud, but i wish it was quit. I guess my turn was up and i got to take it like a champ. i took back like 5 times but the noise is still there. For anyone that is thinking of changing grears, do your research and take it to someone that knows what they are doing. Cause many claim they do, but dont know their head from A S S !!

I agree jamaman. Given that he's done one other set of gears for me and worked on the tranny for my explorer I had confidence this would go well. I think really what this might have been was just a guy rushing at the end of the day and being tired. I got fixed up quick.

My initial confidence in him (based on a referral from a friend) with the explorer was I had some tranny slippage. EVERYONE else wanted to rebuild it anywhere from 1200 to 3000. I took it to him, he drove it and said he'd fix it for $300. Found a faulty solenoid in the transmission and replaced it and it runs great.

Looks like I might be headed for a good run of bad luck though. Driving the explorer in with the wife to drive it back while I picked up the stang, the darn check engine light came on. lol...probably an o2 sensor but still...cmon!

Check your gas cap first, maybe its not screwed in tight. And never use fuel additives, they are useless and will harm your engine and cause that light to come on as well. But you probably already know all of that

this is one of my biggest fears with taking my car to a shop. Obviously unavoidable but a moment of impatience can cause HUGE problems.
