Default wheel size question

My 2010 GT Premium came with 19 in rims which I really do not like. I have been shopping around for aftermarket rims and have it narrowed down to a few choices. My problem is that most of the wheels out there come in 18 and 20 in sizes and there are very few that come in 19. I know that to change the dimension of the overall diameter of the tire may throw off the speedometer and Im alright with that. Ill just have to get an adjusted tune from Bama?

Anyways, what are the advantages/disavantages when it comes to 18in -vs- 20in rims? Ride quality? weight? Please help.

Thanks

you can change the rim size and still have stock diameter size tires.
20's have a smaller sidewall than 18's, so ride quality is more bumpy
20's are also more expensive
i've had both 20's and 18's, i prefer the 18's due to the ride quality, cheaper tires, and its better for racing.
and i like the fat tire look better than the bigger rim with thin looking tire look, but thats just me.

20'" rims are definitely more bumpy than the 18's, even more so since I had the Eibach pro-kit lowering springs installed. 20's came on my car when I bought it used, I prefer 18's.

Regardless if you go with 18's or 20's (or even 17's), you can choose a tire that maintains an equivalent OD of your 19's. No tune would be needed.

Larger wheels typically means heavier wheels and will have a negative, although not dramatic, impact on performance. The smaller sidewall due to a larger diameter wheel also equates to a harsher ride and potential for damaged rims.

The smaller the rim diameter, the more sidewall which IMO is a much sexier, aggressive appearance which also keeps with the retro looks of these S197's.
