Have you ever heard of this?
Oh, you bet.
If you dont want it to ever come off, Adhesion Promoter.
If you just want it to stay put until you want to remove it
or have it 'peel' away at will over time, no Adhesion Promoter.
The Promoter actually eats at the clear coat and will damage
ther paint.
So if you no want it to come off ever, Adhesion Promoter.
If you just want the mod temporarily, no Adhesion Promoter.
But it wont stick like if you use Adhesion Promoter.
It actually 'cures' the acrylic adhesive over time on the 3M tape.
Otherwise the adhesive just stays gummy and reacts with high
temps and lateral loads differently than cured adhesive.

When I purchased my quarter panel window louvers from AM, the adhesive promoter was to be used on the backside of the louvers, where the tape would stick to, and NOT directly on the car. AM also supplied alcohol packets, which WAS to be used on the car to clean the area where the louvers stuck to the car.
I hope this helps!

@157dB

That's really good information to know and thank you. I really like the CDC Decklid, but not sure if it will stay on indefinitely.

The CDC panel is not curved at the same rate
as the rear decklid. It will try and return to its
molded shape once applied to the decklid.
The curvature on the CDC panel is not as great
as the decklid. And it being made of two pieces
glued together and almost 1" thick, it will start
to come loose or 'peel' away from the vehicle
at the sides.
I have removed mine twice and tried to get it to
stay applied correctly but it keeps bending back
no matter how long I leave the clamps on (1 week
long enough, 3M?).

Not a very good product, but it sure looks good....

Well, good thing I was able to get the Faux gas cap off without damaging it. Sounds like it will be going back on sometime in the future, and I'll make sure to enjoy it while it's on. LOL! Thanks again for the great info.

+1 on that. Mine is starting to lift at the edges again, 3rd time.

With everyone talking about them peeling away I'm thinking drilling might be the best option. Although, my louvers are applied with heavy duty 3M tape and don't seem to coming loose.
