Default rear end noise

hay, i hear a whine that seems to be coming from the rear only starts at 60 mph and only hear it with windows up. i have the 3,73 diff and decided to bring it in the shop to get it looked at and they told me that this is characteristics of the mustang, they said it could be resonance from muffler and or drivetrain.

Take it from a guy who spent a year trying to track down and eliminate resonance issues over 60MPH with my Mustang... turn the radio up or install louder exhaust, it's not worth attempting to fix and "that this is characteristics of the mustang" is true enough.

The whine is the result of the gears. Nothing to worry about. Tweaking the backlash would likely change the speed where the whine is, and may make it go away; but with the gears already broken in, any changes make make it worse.
Just go faster or slower, or crank up the stereo, lol.

Mine (373's) whine right at 40 mph and then a tiny bit around 60.

My 3.73 does the same......very annoying.....thinking about having new gears installed (again!)

Dont understand why its so difficult to install new gears to be quiet like factory gears.....Tech was experienced, took his time.....cheked and re checked backlash.....still LOUD at 40 mph (on the de cel side)

Merry Christmas everyone.....................
