3.73 is fine. Speaking from experience with over 600HP out of a twin screw and using 4.10s. It will defiantly mean you have to be able to adjust how you drive. People get used to being able to stomp the pedal, then blame traction when they add tons of power and better gears. You defiantly have to be able to learn how to drive again.

On a side note, you should pay off your car if you have that much money. Every day you do not pay it off, you ar literally spending money to borrow it. Pay it off, then continue to pocket the payments to put towards your mods. Sooner then you think you will have more money for mods.

I did find a rear end with 3.55 gears thanks for the tip JimC. The suspension kit comes with sway bars and I definitely will be getting some new tires. If I really get into the track racing I'll invest in the single piece drive shaft too. What about my tranny, it's a 5 speed auto. Will I need to do anything to it?

Which would be better for right of the start acceleration 3.55 or 3.73? I had thought 3.73 would be better.

A debt free life is a slavery free life. That said, I'll hop off the horse and say that an xcharger xtreme will net you about the same power as a mildly modified 4.6l 3v and is well within your budget.

3.73 and don't think twice. 4.10 unless you concerned about fuel mileage.

What's the difference in fuel mileage between the two?

Hard to calculate, it's not drastic, but over the life of the car can add up. For me I would not sweat a few extra gallons a week but I don't know how much driving you do. On my GT with 4.10s and mixed driving I usually got 200 to 220 a tank.

Oh ok well that's really not so bad maybe I'll just go with the 4.10. I probably won't be driving around too much, I'm in the military so just to base and around town.

Take half of your 12k and invest it, put the other 6k into the V6. A supercharger or turbo is a great way to go, especially if there's other mods already done.

And fwiw, I have a '06 4.0L turbo with manual, and late last year drove around (as a loaner) a '12 gt manual, and personally, I liked the turbo'd 4.0 better. But the 5.0L's do run good.

As stated, depends what your goals are. I was faced with that delima, when I wanted more power, and going with a V8 platform was the only logical and most cost effective solution...you can't push 700hp through a v6!
