My first post.
I've recently gotten a promotion after years of hard work and I'm planning on fulfilling a life long dream - owning a Mustang.
I'm hoping to get a new or low mileage white 2014 Mustang GT, automatic, California Special. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to buy until September 2014. Which leads to a number of questions:
I assume you won't be able to order 2014's from Ford anymore soon. When will that be?
How much inventory of new 2014 GT California Specials will be left?
Will prices of used 2014 GT's go up when the 2015 Mustang is introduced? I imagine there are a lot of people like me that prefer the retro 2014 body style (nothing against the 2015 Mustang).
I'd love to hear your opinions.

the price of the 14 will drop...not by a lot..once the 15s hit the floors. youll be able to find 14 probably until late into 15. they always make enough to where they are on the lot for awhile. as for it being exactly what you are wanting white, auto, cali special...you will have to search around. autotrader or something and search larger dealerships that may possible ship the car in from another dealership....of course at a cost to you...unless you play hardball and they forgo the destination charges
Yeah they're going to go down in price. You can already get California's for damn good prices, at least around here. I paid $32k for my manual '14 Cali with nav in Feb. The dealership I went to still had fairly good inventory, but mine is the only California I've seen still on lots around here.
But if you can deal with having a used car, you can always find them used and pay a little less. Interest might be a little higher on the loan though.
if you can find one on the lot once the 2015's are there, you can likely get a steal on it. Especially if its been sitting for a while. You can't be too picky about options, if they have to get the car from somewhere else, you won't get near as good a deal. If its a stubborn car on their lot they can't get rid of, some dealers are willing to sell at a loss to quit losing money on a non-moving car. I got my 09 that way when the 2010's were out. 10k+ off sticker.
Just based on my experience - the price (msrp) won't go up or down. Actual pricing depends a lot on 1) Ford rebates/offers and 2) the specific dealership and various factors.
Another factor is that, if it like when the 2005s came out, most dealerships will be adding about $5K over msrp just because of the initial demand. That means they can keep the 2014s priced the same/stable because they will still be cheaper than comparable 2015s and some people may prefer the 2014 style over the 2015. Also as stated above, even then, options/trim (e.g., CS) may be limited unless you are willing to look around the state/country. My experience is that cars that are really loaded with options tend to hang around longer.
Probably won't be until around late 2015 or so that things will start to settle down price-wise based on initial reaction to the 2015.
New to this forum, keeping my finger in the pulse. I grew up with Fords but have not driven one in a long time.
I'm in kind of the same boat as far as buying. I have plans in about a year to buy when we pay down some debt. I haven't ruled out a '15 but it depends on the markup from a '14, and I'm not against buying used either. I just want to get back into a muscle car again!
If there is a frenzy over the '15, prices will be above MSRP and my decision will be easy.
