OEM hood scoops. Cool or crap?

Yes, I like it. I saw someone who did hood spears but also blacked out the scoop. Looks insanely good and I had a "D'oh" moment where I thought damn maybe I should've just done that instead of getting a new hood.

So, if a hood scoop is functional, it looks good? But the same scoop with no functionality looks like schit?
You guys logic is unshakable!
After all, a hood scoop is more for looks than anything else.
And it's been like that since the 60s! LOL.
I guess the 65/70 Shelbys and 69/70 Boss are ghetto car eh?

wait wait wait...what are you saying??
i suppose i should respect someone with 12000+ posts. you clearly know what youre talking about. but can you explain why you think this?
im not saying it isnt looks inspired, but is there not physics based logic as to why a hood scoop could be beneficial to the performance?

I like the looks of the hood scoops on the newer mustangs, but i think it would hurt the aerodynamics slightly. Mabe it wouldnt hurt the aerodynamics too much though since that air would have just been hitting the windshield anyway- windshield is smoother and slanted backwards though.
A bigger spoiler than stock looks wrong without a hood scoop

I think the amount of extra air pressure a functional hood scoop would allow the engine to intake would be neligible or would be cancelled out by the negative aerodynamic effects.

A slap-on hood scoop is only for aesthetics, so why would its lack of performance gains make it look like **** compared to a function hood scoop.

It's been a staple for a long while to at least at first glance, give it an appearance that it has a hood scoop, or side ones for brakes, etc...Doesn't however make it look good IMO after that split second.
Excuse me whilest I now go out and tack on cobra insignias, badges, and yank off my mufflers to give an initial appearance to my own GT. For an encore I shall put fake solar-panels on my house. Might make my neighbors like me a bit more, at least until I regale them with how it cuts down the cost of my meth lab, or they look for more than a couple seconds..
