American Muscle Pre painted Hood Scoop quality?
I want a shaker hood scoop, at first I looked at new hoods, but spending $700 (with shipping) plus another $600 to have a new hood painted, when I have a brand new hood on the car now (2012 5.0 with 1500 miles on the odo), seems insane! The functional shakers are too small. Not to mention, both of those options end up putting rain into the engine bay. Yes, I know a fake hood scoop serves no function other then a styling accessory, but neither does your spoiler (the down-force argument on mustang spoilers is bs), or large, heavier rims. The only difference is that a non-functional hood scoop has not been as widely used and therefore does not have the same mainstream acceptance that spoilers and large rims have. So now I am looking at the hood scoops, I truly hate how the factory hood scoop is just a tunnel that if you look through, you can actually see the windshield (or the road if you are behind the wheel). I wanted a scoop that was open on one side and closed on the other (like a real one), with a honeycomb insert, and large enough to give the car a more aggressive look. The American Muscle hood scoop looks like it fits the bill, but I cant tell whether it is closed on the end closest to the windshield. Can anyone confirm this?

If this is the scoop you are speaking of

I just received mine today, and it is closed front and rear, the "grille" at the front is just for looks, it is not open.

The front is closed, just flat fiberglass, the honeycomb is also closed, there are no actual holes that go all the way through, it is one solid piece on the backside of the honeycomb.
If it was open with no hole in the hood, it would just trap water, and material inside the scoop, and it would trap air under it which would have nowhere to go.
