The 3.7 is an excellent engine for what it is. Problem is you will always have your die hard v8 guys so that will stay. They have to offset CAFE numbers though. By eliminating the v6 you have a very efficient 4cyl. ( in the eyes of CARB) vs a very inefficient v8 (again in the eyes of CARB). They do this to gain emissions credits to apply to other less efficient cars. This is how Ford chose to setup their lineup to phase out hybrids. It's all a game the government regulations force them to play. It translates down to the only other lineup with a v8 (the f150s). It's still a pain to toe with an ecoboost and when your at the limits of the truck capacity wise the ecoboost gets only slightly better economy than the v8 option. It's all a balancing act to appease the government.

^^ That's it. When I got my V6, the dealer had zero with HD Audio. Further, we couldn't find a dealer within 200 miles that had a single V6 with HD Audio or many other options. By contrast, every single Eco-boost and V8 had some options - almost all had HD Audio.

In the end, I figured I may have to wait on a good aftermarket, but if Ford didn't want to provide a V6 option with HD Audio (without waiting on custom) - I'd be happy to give what'll end up less money to an aftermarket shop in a couple years.

That is what irritated me the most, that ford cut the V6 out of almost all of the special packages and upgrades in 2015. I had a V6 2005, put 145,000 miles on it and loved the car. Went to test drive a 2015, only good thing you could add was the better rear-end gear. Frustrating. Ended up buying a used 2011 GT, 24k miles, mint, smelled like new too. I am happy with that but probably would have gotten a brand new V6 if I could have had any frigging options!

The V6 is considered the base model thus the lack of options. It's like this with every mfg. They have a base model setup and then they have their step-ups.

Ford Fusion S is a base model and comes with the , 1.5L Ecoboost and offers very few options. When you step up to the SE model you automatically get the 2.0L and tons of options. You won't find a S model fusion with the same options as an SE. It's just not happening.

The thing is that before the 2015 model year, the base model V6 came with all the options. Now, it doesn't. Just because they added the ecoboost 4 banger. The v6 isn't an 'S' model or whatever meaning that it's a bottom, stripped down model, it's just an engine option. I'm still betting that after the next update, it'll be gone.

You can't really compare to a fusion or any other family type car. A mustang is unique. Typically the v6 is the cruiser model. The take it out on Sunday and just cruise type of car. That said having options like nav and higher end radio leather are nice. Also I seem to recall a whole package called v6 premium at one point that offered those features. I have to agree with the others it seems like ford is killing it by forcing you to another model.

I have a 2016 3.7l with cat back, bbk TB, cold air, peddal maxx, dyno tune. 266 HP and 261 tg at rear wheels. I love every bit of the power it has until my warranty is up and I get the pro charger. I do want the 3.73 from my 3.15s

Your warranty is already gone with those mods. Although it's not an eco so I wouldn't worry too much.

Everything I have my dealer don't care about except the dyno tune but I just need to return it to stock tune before I bring it in and all is fine as I did last month for warranty work.

Why Kill the V6 when the new Ford GT has basically the same engine with twin turbos making almost 700hp?
