Pirelli P235/50ZR18 97W Warm Up Period?
I have purchased two V6 2012 Mustangs, a base model in May and a Premium model with Pony Package that includes the Pirelli P235/50ZR18 97W tires Monday.
I drove three premiums with the sport Pirellis, and none drive as smooth at highway speeds as the Good Year's on the base model. Do the base model's 17" tires benefit from their high mpg design?
After the first ten miles each morning on the Pirelli's they seem to do better. What gives? Is there a warm up period. The 18" Pirelli's corner very well, and do fine at high speed, just not the glass smooth ride of the base model.
Thanks

Your 17" tires have a taller sidewall than the 18s, which helps absorb some of the bumps in the road. Also, my 17" Pirelli's that I just got rid of felt like they had flat spots for the first couple of miles in the morning.

I concur - the Pirelli's feel like they have been flat spotted sometimes when cold, but they worm up in a mile or two.
My previous Mustang had 17" wheels and the ride was indeed much better. but it couldn't hold a candle to this car on a track, so it's all a trade off.
