Default Lowering ’01 GT Cpe

What recommendations are out there re lowering a stock '01 GT cpe? I want to go down about 1-1.25" only. Anyone had firsthand experience w/ subframe connectors, strut tower braces, up sizing tires on stock Bullit wheels? I know everyone has an opionion, but I need practical help: Will lowering affect my ability to align the vehicle as normal? Do I need different shocks. What tire changes can I make. What's the most fool(me)proof catback system? Etc. Web sites w/ parts that are reliable and staff that is knowledgeable and helpful are also appreciated. I'm 56 and got my first Mustang in 1967 and have had one every since. This is my first "project" car. Always stock before this. For God's sake help me.
