Hi, this is my first mustang (1999 mustang gt, 5 speed), and as all mustang lovers, I want to make it better. I wanted to install an aftermarket shifter in the car, but when I was almost done removing the stock one, I couldn't get it out!! I removed everything up to the four bolts that hold the shifter in place, but I can't get the damn thing off! I know there is some glue or silicone holding it to the tranny, does anybody have a technique to getting the shifter out without f****ng something in the car??? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!!

After all the bolts are out. Whack it! LOL I kicked mine. I wouldn't recommend that though. It's on there pretty good so it's gonna take some work to get it off.

I had the same problem, you have to pry it off. Find a spot for leverage and it will come off.
