oh, i seee..... ive heard most people say to stay around 400rwhp... and im exceeding that by alot... so i never know what will happen to my motor next.... haha

nope, thats my 3650 that has the bad tranny... the tko doesnt have any miles on it yet... well not that i know of, its at the ford dealer so you never know......

The guy at Sutton told me about a 3 valve making 475 at the wheels and when the guy missed a gear at the track he threw 2 rods through the block and they have the same pistons and rods as our cars right. He used the "phrase time Bomb" about a 450 hp 05 also. One of the head guys of the HP department was saying there sometimes is no rhyme or reason when some cars blow, even the Cobras. I think you would be a good test pilot though. [8D] I say go for it you little HP addict you. These guys at Alternative auto are talking about making 470 hp on an 05 with water/meth inj but you can get that with the air to water without a problem too. Just add some blower cams for more HP for sure.

the stock 4.6 can only hold a max of 450 if u go over that your chancing blowin a rod if you go over 450 its better to upgrade to forged rods and bigger pistions and PS what mods do you have

i dont' know why you're not forging. with a nice *** motor like that, i woudln't want to take a chance of it blowing. that's tons of money down the drain. just forge it man

First of all with that much hp you would barely notice a 20 hp difference.

Secondly read the following that was posted by a tuner on another message board.

"CYLINDER PRESSURE!!!!!!!!! That was the culprit, and always will be with a motor coming apart, or spitting a rod etc. If it blew a head gasket, burned a valve, burned a hole in a piston, yeah then u may want to look at the tune, but these bottom ends have always had a 450rw limit to them. And 450rw is pushing it. Here' the math, and it doesnt lie. This is the same reason lightnings, and 2v's only last so long past 425rw.
Blowers increase cylinder pressure, until everyone gets this in their heads, everyone will always try and lay blame to a motor coming apart to the "tune".
Mechanical failure, like we have here is a direct result of cylinder pressure. Engineers use an equation to put hp numbers on specific items (rods, pistons, cranks) , its all based on pressure, volume, and temperature.
Too much cylinder pressure (im not talking boost here) will break ring lands and or rods, EVEN IF NO KNOCK IS PRESENT OR A LEAN CONDITION DOESNT EXIST.
All 2v, Lightning, and 3V motors have hyp pistons and powdered metal rods. These items can handle a peak cylinder pressure of about 1000 to 1100 psi. That doesnt mean run them right at that number, you always wanna leave a 10 margin of saftey, so 990 psi of cylinder pressure if you wanna get 100k off your blown motor.
Your average motor produces roughly 2.5/2.65 psi worth of cylinder pressure per HP produced, AND I AM TALKING CRANK HP, not REAR WHEEL. Take our lad above with a 475 RWHP 05 mustang with a STOCK BOTTOM END. Them rods in there are maybe good to 1200psi worth of cylinder pressure. Our 475RWHP motor thru a stick (15-18% loss) makes a minimum (15%) of 546 CRANK HORSEPOWER. Now add the loss from the blower (typically 70HP) to spin itself (crank driven). WE GOT OURSELVES a 616 CRANK HP MONSTER. Now heres the fun part, 616 x 2.65psi = 1632 psi worth of cylinder pressure.
SO WHY DID MR ROD OR PISTON SELF DESCTRUCT???? 1632 is alot more than the 1200 psi (max) cylinder pressure the rods & or pistons were meant to be run at. THATS WHY THEY FAIL. Can we "detune" a car so it keeps itself intact? Well ya you can, run less boost, stay under the hp/cylinder psi limit of the parts. Best thing i hear is CAN WE PULL SOME TIMING TO MAKE THE TUNE SOFT TO STAY LOWER THAN THE POWER LIMIT????? Yes you can but, you can have a draw back of extra heat built up, and the exhaust vlaves will glow with such retarded timing.
Thats why you see big numbers from nitrous only cars, or even turbo cars. On a nitrous car, it doesnt add any friction like a blower car does, and with a turbo you are free'n up that 70hp at the crank you lost to drag. But they still have a limit themselves."
