UPDATE!!! Leaking trans fluid from 4r70w
I finally got around to getting it off. wasn't too hard on a lift. It fell apart in 3 pieces!! I was leaking through the cracks[:@] . My bet to what happened was that the housing couldn't take the vibration and the flange around the bolts was the weak spot that gave way.
SO, i am going to track down a new housing, and get those dam gears outta there and replace them with 3.55's or 3.73's. I maybe might pop for a aluminum shaft also...
Hopefully someone can give me some insight here...
Ok, heres how i did it. I was doing 115-120 or so and with my 4.10's my rpms get pretty high. So instead of letting it rap down slowly, i put it in neutral and coasted onto my road. Well, i did not notice the puddle left when i left work the next morning on my 20 min. commute to work i noticed it acting funny, vibrating, shifting soft. on my lunch break i noticed the puddle under the car.
after geting it up on our lift, i noticed the fluid coming from around the bottom of the tailshaft housing where it bolts to the trans. is it hard taking that apart? anything i should look out for? what seals am i going to need? did the sudden change from high line pressure to low do this?? any help would be great!
EDIT: its not the yoke seal, (i wish), it is dripping bad where it mates to the trans itself

It's not hard at all to take the tailshaft housing off. I believe there is an actual gasket there, not RTV. In fact, you may want to inspect the entire back end of the tranny w/ the housing off. See if you can identify a definitive cause for the leak.
Do you get any driveline vibration at highway speeds??

yeah, matter of fact i do. worst vibration at around 3k. it will get so bad it will that it will make my exhaust pipe rattle against the rear subframe where it goes over the axle.
it really vibrated bad on my way into work when it was low on fluid....

Check your U-joints, and check your rear diff's pinion flange for lateral movement...
It sounds very similar to what happened to my old trans. I had such bad driveline vibration that it literally rattled the output shaft seal nearly out, and spewed copious amounts of ATF all over the under carriage of my car. I also damaged the Tailshaft housing..

My tranny is leaking in the same area but not as bad as you guys. Right in the tailshaft area where the crossmember bolts up is where I noticed the fluid leak. The fluid is leaking all over my MIL elimators and the crossmember but does not leave puddles (hmmm). I guess it only leaks when driving.
