yo where are you getting 3000 pound car from? its an 89 maro and ways like low-mid 2000 something with the motor. It came with a factory 305 and 5 speed but both of those have long since been thrown in the trash along with the computer.

I want to see some video of this "9 second" car at the strip and then on the street. Does it have an interior at all? And he sure isn't running a stock displacement 350 and running 9 seconds on the motor. Hell, I am not sure I have ever seen a stroked 350 SB making enough power to push a 3000+ pound car down the strip in 9 seconds.
The older cars are NOT light. Hell, my dad's 69 is within a few hundred pounds of my car. You can say with authority that almost every v8 mustang ever built weighs at least 3000 pounds coming out of the factory.
I don't think I have ever seen a car run 7s on all motor, espcially one that could even come close to getting on the street legally.
Also, I am not sure why you think you need a 60's car to run a high output n/a setup. The fastest mustangs out there on the strip are foxbodys, n/a OR blown. And ALL of the big classes run some sort of power adder.

hey im only 17, and my dads maro can run 9's all day on just motor, and it IS Streetable, it has ac as well has a decent radio and does fairly decent on corners. I do not understand why you guys think just because an all motor runs single digit 1/4 mile times that it cant still be streetable. Now if were talking 7's all motor, then thats a dif. story.

2000gt, i bow down to you. you are very knowledgable and everything you have said, is exactly what i would have said (makes me feel good since im 16 lol). but i understand where this guys is coming from. doing everything N/A is just a whole nother accomplishment. having a huge cam with a lope and saying "Yeah I run 10's all motor" is an amazing thing to be able to say. But, liek you said, it won't be streetable. I'll take a twin turbo or s/c anyday man; but i know where this guy is comnig from

You do realise that a civic weighs in at like 2400 pounds right??
So your dad's 350 cubic inch engine that cost him 5 grand is in a 89 camaro that weighs 2500 pounds with a full interor/radio/a/c and it's completely street legal, and it runs 9s at the quarter mile strip......

Got any pics or anything to back this up? I want to see a n/a car, espcally one with a SB, run a 7 second quarter mile....
And WHERE are you getting these prices?? You can't even go out and spend 30K on a LS1 or 4.6L setup without buying everything at least twice if not three times.

On second thought let me clear the air right now so this non sense can be settled. I believe ya are taking some of this to hard. I am in no way saying a s/c on these new modular motors isnt nice, because they are fairly decent. I only got started on 2000 because he was telling me his Lsx series can go to the track and put a whoopin on my old school motors, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, i have a lot of friends around here who run constant 7's, now if any1 can please show me an Lsx motor running 7s and still being a daily driver then go ahead, didnt think so....But they are both still good motors there just come from two totally dif. worlds, all i was trying to say when i first entered this thread was i can build a sub 10 racer that still handles fairy decent on the road for under 8k, that INCLUDES the price to buy the car, that doesnt even compare to the probaly 30-50k you'd spend on a s/c or TT motor

Otherwise, your nothing but a flamer. I never have claimed my car is the fastest or best setup out there, far from it. If I was going to start a project with the goal to build the fastest/cheapest car I could, I definatly would not start with a 2000 mustang GT.
But I would'nt start with a 89 camaro either
Edit: You are simply stupid if you think that there is no advantage to starting off a newer car or using EFI though. And you are very misinformed about the LS1 seires of engines. ANYTHING you can do to your "old school" 350 can be done to a LS1, except that the LS1 will see better gains. The LS1 is simply the next step in the evolution of the 350 CI V8. The LS2 and LS7 are extentsions of that same evolution.
I want to see a single 350 V8 making 400 WHP with just a cam and exhaust, or one making what, 550+ on the stock shortblock with heads/cam/intake. I dunno why you seem to think that LS1 parts are not plentyful, but its dammed sure not like the 4.6 2v market where there are only 2 good aftermarket intakes and no aftermarket heads. Hell, AFR sells a BAD set of LS1 heads that flow over 300 CFM WITHOUT porting!!
EDIT: Soooo much for there being no 7 second LS1 cars

RE: To buy 5.0 or 4.6?
You want to see the full capability of a built FI LSX motor ? ANd they do this all the time in pro series drag racing.. there are a lot of Fbody's, vettes, new edge, sn95, and fox chevy's and fords that run sub 8 1/4's.. not streetable at that point.. usualy a tube frame, and far from a stock motor.. lots of FI... but they are just as common as the old school muscle cars doing it.
