Orbital buffer?

Orbital buffer?
So this weekend, I'm detailing the paint on my 2003 GT. Its silver and my plan is claying it, polishing then waxing. I'm thinking about getting an orbital buffer to help out on the polishing and waxing of it. Never used one, would using one improve the look or do you get the same appearance by hand polishing and waxing and the buffer just takes less amoutn of time?

orbital buffer aren't that great cuz when you put pressure on them they quit spinning.
If you want to get an amazing shine go to sears spend $50-60 and get an electric polisher...WOW
This will be the best shine you will ever see.

I got one for around $20 and it makes the jobe much easier and much faster as far as putting the wax on . it leaves nice thin layer very quickly. as far as buffing is concerned I would not recommend as the bonnet gets clogged quickly and it simply does not do the job anymore. you would have to replace the bonnets several times during one waxing job and thats too expensive.overall its better than doing it by hand completely.

One thing to remember is that there is only so much clear coat on the paint. When it starts to wear through, the color coat underneath will look completely different. The color will change and take on a dull sheen instead of a shine.
As far as using an orbital buffer, they are easier to use without leaving swirl marks than a direct drive circular buffer.Putting pressure on them should be unecessary.Let the machine do the work. When the bonnet starts to clog, take it off and kinda' wad it up and work it around to loosen the caked on polish. This will allow you to continue working with minimal aggravation.
If there are major defects in the paint,no amount of claybar or polishing will help, and can make the blemishes worse.
