Default Two questions in one thread...

Ok first I wanna say thanks for any input.

#1 my suspension in the car is about shot, so I'm gonna be replacing shocks and struts. My goal with the suspension is to have a car that can make a few passes a year at the strip, but will primarily be driven on the street once in awhile and driven to car shows. So I do want some improved handling as well. Any ideas on a good set up? I was thinking shocks/struts, upper/lower control arms, springs w/1.25 in drop, and anti-sway bars. for now. later on after engine mods or swap K-member, subframe connectors and roll cage to stiffen up the chasis. Any suggestions on what to start with?

#2 the engine in the 99 is going to be swapped (not sure with what yet and when exactly, but I'd like to know what I'm saving for and piecing together) I was originally gonna go with a 393, then a 351, which got changed to a 347 kit, but I'm thinking those will be a huge pain in the *** to make them fit correctly with a new trans, driveshaft etc. One of my buddies friends told me that last year he saw a DOHC motor built by SHM with a 101mm turbo and 35lbs of boost putting out close to 1500HP, and that I could build a scaled down version for 10-15k as long as I piece the turbo kit together. Now he is a ford mechanic, but sometimes I doubt his cediability. This leads me to my second question, do you think a 1000fwhp 4.6 is feasible, or should I go with a different block? and if so any suggestios? (just a side note most of the work will not be done by me directly, but with the help of a couple friends that own a small performance shop both of which have already built a few cars from the ground up)

Again thanks for any input and sorry for the long *** post. I only got enough $$$ to get my wife to let me do this once, so what ever I do I'm stuck with for a long, long time.

You mean Rwhp right? You want 1000hp out of your car? your stock 4.6 block def. wont handle that. The aluminum teskid block that was in the earlier cobras (i know theres an argument on what years it was used) is supposed to be able to handle a good deal of power, but I dont know about 1000hp.

Im looking into a swap right now for a mach I motor that will bolt right up and its gonna be expensive even to do that. Maybe you have a hookup on parts?

I think the best bet is to start with a completely forged 03 cobra short block and go from there...

And out of curiosity is this a dd or a race car?

as long as your block is built up 1000 fwhp is gonna be fine, look at the website of where i take my car. there is an 03 cobra with stock block running 853 REAR wheel hp, with lots of room left. www.precision-autosports.com

about 1000 flywheel in the neighborhood of 800+ rwhp, and it still needs to be my daily driver. j/k I'm gonna run a few passes now and then on the track, but it will mostly be collecting dust, and give me an excuse to show up to more car shows. I would like to get ahold of a terminator block as I've heard of several cobras over the 800rwhp mark. I've decided on a single turbo setup as my buddy has fabricated several of them and is very confident he can build one for me, he just doesn't want to try a TT and I don't wanna fork out 7k just for the turbo setup. A teskid block was used in most 96-98 cobras and from what I've read is actually better than the terminator block in the 03/04 cobras as a starting block for huge hp. Problem is everything else sucked on the 96-98, where the 03/04 has alot of keeper parts. I'm really thinking about just going with an aftermarket longblock from DSS or another builder, I'm just not sure if I wanna stay with a 4.6 engine. I'm of the mindset that the easiest way to get to 800+ rwhp will also be the safest and most reliable. I'm torn between all the options, and if I don't get this car together in the next few years, I might as well forget it, cause the misses is already talking about babies.
