Default Check Engine light

HELP!
Ive got bbk long tubes with offroad x pipe and borla muflers, it sound great and seems to be running good but i cant get the check engine light off. I ive got the mil elimantors and the co2 extensions but it still comes on. Ive even taken it to the mechanic and all he could think of was a defect in a sensor. I was jw if anyone knew why it would do this or has had the same problem.
Thanks

Did you ever clear the codes? You may already know this, but since I don't know you...

96+ cars use OBDII computers which require the code to be cleared either by a) an OBDII scanner or b) disconnecting the battery for like 5 minutes. The check engine light will remain on until the code is cleared even if the problem has been corrected.

Just FYI in order for the light to come on, the same error has to occur on three consecutive start/run cycles.

I had the same exact problem when I changed my exhaust system!! just make sure that the codes you are getting are because of the exhaust.. maybe you are getting codes for other reasons.. After doing that, check again your Mil's and if they dont work return them and get STEEDA mil's they worked fine for me good luck

What codes are you getting? I have the same problem, I've heard MIL's have a 30% sucess rate. Your light will continue to come on as long as your cats are not on the car.

The code I have been getting is 0174. Common code

The codes I got were P0420 and P0430 these are the codes you get when you get rid of 2 or all 4 cats.. the MIL's do work because I got them and they have worked fine... I have heard that the cheap ones dont work well.. that is why I paid a little more for my STEEDA mil's.. saleen338 :
Diagnostic trouble codes P0171 and P0174 both indicate the engine is running too lean for the conditions. P0171 is the code for Bank 1 and P0174 is the code for Bank 2. If I was you I would get that code fixed asap... .

If you use MILs right away the light will come on... you kind of have to break your O2 sensors in for a week then clear the engine light code with am OBD II scanner.
