Ok, so my motor is getting pretty high on the miles and I want to replace it or rebuild it. If I replace it, I will purchase a used PI motor with under 30,000 miles. Upon purchasing the PI motor(before dropping in), I would pnp the heads, install cams. I have that option or, to rebuild the current motor that I have. I was thinking forged internals, pnp PI heads, and cams of some sort. I'm looking to only spend somewhere around the $3000 mark. If you guys have any suggestions, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Actually, just buy a 5.4 navigator motor.

when referring to the 5.4, why does everyone say the 'navigator' motor? what would be better about that as opposed to a ford F 150 5.4?

What about the 5.4 Lightning motor?

The Navigator as opposed to the F150 (except the Lightning) has the DOHC heads. Just like the '99- '01 Cobras. Just made for the 5.4. Much better flowing heads=much more power.
