Default cost to rebuild heads

I was going to have my heads rebuilt but looking at cost I might as well just order new performance heads. am I just seeing high prices/ I'm getting 1500-2000 prices. I would do this myself but I haven't found any good information or video's showing it from disassembly to rebuild and back on motor. but anyways I guess my original question was is it more cost effective to just get new heads already built and throw them on myself than to order a rebuild kit and pay someone to rebuild.

What mods do you have? What are your goals? You can buy a nice set of MHS or CMS (Stage 1) heads for about 2100 bucks. MMR may be a little cheaper.

i will have a edelbrock EFI /w bbk 78mm, flowmasters, 3.73 rear, also complete suspension overhaul , thought next inline is heads just because I'm starting to get a bad tapping first 3-5 sec on start up, and until i throw on a turbo there is no reason to do my fuel system.
