Whats the difference? Do they work with the same parts?

The drive ratio is different. I belive that you can swap them out, but they use different parts internally.

gear ratio is diferent, also older t45 96 to 98 i believe have mechanical speed sensor 99-00 have electronic speed sensor like the 3650, also if you want to swap a 3650 in a older gt the conection to the reverse lights are different, the pretty mush are the same, some people say that 3650 is a little bit stronger than the t45 and some say that both suck but i guess depends on people opinions

yeah the t45 is rated at 325, and the 3650 i believe is 375, from what I remember reading.
aluminum shift forks for the t45 i know are wimpy, and not strong enough to powershift to many times, got about 10 powershifting times going down the 1/4 before the 3-4 shift fork broke

the 45 is supposively smoother(havent driven both), and the 3650 is suppose to have a small problem with 2nd when its cold

in what month did they switch in 2001. I have a 2001 model but production date was 10/00 so which tranny do i have?

Check your door tag on the drivers side. Look under TR, if it says K then you have a T3650

See now I powershift the sh*t outta my car all the ****ing time with the T45 and I hasnt been too bad. Knock on wood.
