Radar Detectors

RE: Radar Detectors
I also have the Passport. It has saved me from 2 hands down garantee'd tickets, and countless probable tickets. Get one, it's worth it. And since you want to trust it, get a good one. I got the passport 2 years ago for $300 dollars. They haven't come out with a new model yet, so the price is still about that. The Valentine is rated 2nd by a very close margin in most head to head match ups. I'd say out of every 5 head to heads I read, 4 were for the passport, and 1 would go for the Valentine. The X band warning you guys are talking about is the automatic doors. No the keyless entry systems. Most cops don't use X band anymore anyway, so I have it turned off on my passport. I'm tempted to disable K band also, but some of the older units are still using it. Ka band is what you're REALLY got to look out for. And laser of course, but there's no warning for that anyway. By the time you read that you're being painted, you're toast. GL on whichever one you go with. Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. But defenetly a worthy purchase.

RE: Radar Detectors
Here's some sites that talk about and test radar and lazer detectors.

Personally, I strongly recommend Passport.
By the way, normally it's the automatic door openers at stores that set off the detectors not security systems. They operate on the same frequency (K band) as some of the older guns out there. And, that's why they put the Highway/City switch on'em so you can avoid those nusance alarms.
