White Face Gauge Wiring Help!

RE: White Face Gauge Wiring Help!
In my 03 GT, the wire I used to wire my gauges to come on when I pull the headlight **** was a thick brown wire. In some cars its grey. Thats the headlight power remote. So I wired my gauges into that, and when I pull the headlights on they gauges come on.
My gauges had an external switch but that was just for color changing, to make em different shades of green or blue. If you didnt want to mount that switch externally, you could just your color you wanted then tuck the switch behind the cluster cover. As long as you bridge the gauge cluster positive wire with the headlight power remote, then make sure you ground the black wire that coming from the box, then your good they'll come on with the headlights. I just threw the black power box in their with the cluster it sits in there nicely.

RE: White Face Gauge Wiring Help!
yea, we must not be tapping into the right wire...
our "black box" is trashed...ill have to get hold of another.
mine is for on/off not color...i know what you mean though.
if you could, do you remember if it was the Big Brown one in the middle or a brown one somewhere else?
mines grey in the middle, thats the one we spliced into.

RE: White Face Gauge Wiring Help!
Tommy I had this problem when doing mine. It took two days but I got it all you do is splice your positive wire into the light blue with red stripe wire that goes into you cluster not headlight switch. and then ground to the metal pole that runs across your car behind dash the light blue with red stripe wire gets related through the headlight switch and will work. Easiest reference is got to any autozone and look it up in a haynes manual it will show you light blue w/ red stripe = illumination wire. Do not look in chiltons it doesnt have it. and test turning them on in the dark you can not see them in the daytime.
