The mechanic took the oil filter out at about 5900kms and didnt put the oil in and I drove it with hardly any in there for about 300kms and was wondering if i hurt my car? thanks
Although running a quart low isn't a good idea, more than likely it didn't hurt anything. If you were loosing that much oil that quickly you'd either have a massive leak or the car would smoke like a freight train. It probably didn't get filled properly after the last oil change.

Question.

Does the newer stangs not have an oil light that starts comming on as you get a quart low?

My old 96 likes to suck down that moble 1 but at least it lets me know when it wants more.

Also, 1 qt low is nothing. Don't worry about it. No damage at all.

I'd be concerned why its using so much oil though...

I found out what the problem was. The mechanic did the oil change and put the wrong filter on and after he noticed, he changed it to the right one. In that time some oil came out and he forgot to top it off. The mechanic said it was no big deal because there was still enough oil in there as it did touch the dip stick, except it was just extremely low on the dipstick.

Not to mention that the "correct" oil filter needed to be filled with oil from the oil pan.

I would question any "mechanic" that sends a car out low on oil after a service. Period.

If oil was touching the dip stick, it more than likely had enough oil to be okay.

Do an oil change, then tell your mechanic "thanks" for forgetting to add oil & putting on the wrong oil filter.

A retard could do an oil change.

Either A) Get the few tools together you need to do it yourself or B) Find a better mechanic. I wouldn't go back to this guy
