Ok so ive been looking for 275/40/17s for my car and didnt want to spend more than $130 or soa tire...came down to these 2 really good choices:

Kumho Ecsta MX ~$130 a piece
#2 in Extreme Performance Summer Category (on tirerack.com)

General Tire Exclaim UHP ~$110 a piece
#1 in Ultra High Performance Summer Category (on tirerack.com)

Anyone try these?? Any advice on these tires...Im pretty set on these two because they received high marks from the majority of people who took the survey regarding those tires (more than 500 people)...so its pretty good idea...

My Kumho Ectsa MXs came in about a week ago. Im gonna be mounting them up this week. Love the tread pattern, and good price

kumho is a better brand but the tread on those generals is pretty soft

+1 on the General's, that's what I'm getting once my Gatorcraps are slicks.

I just brought home my new '02 GT, and it has a set of Generals on it already...so far so good. I had a set of Kumho's Escta SPT's on my Matrix XRS before I traded it in...they were great tires too. Bad thing I've heard about the MX's is the quick treadwear on them..they were my first choice but I went with the SPT's instead.

I have the Generals, Exclaim UHP 245/45zr17, and I can't complain about them. One thing I've noticed that I really like about them is the seem to break evenly and kinda balance the car well. Very neutral handling, no more snap oversteer or ridiculous understeer. Keep in mind, I'm running stock suspension too. Personally, next time I'm trying the BFG G Force Sports. I've always had a thing for BFGs....
