Default Cheap Power?

BBK sells longtubes for like 300 a pair (does this mean it's 600?) then they sell an o/r x-pipe for like 200 OR you can get an x pipe with cats for like 4-500.
what are the pros and cons of longtubes over shorties and cats with no cats bc i've heard 2 dif stories on both. and where can i get this stuff for cheaper? i'm near STL so i'm looking there too. thanks in advance. - dustin

cheap power-doesnt exist. if you havent already done this, you should take the rubber hosing that encloses your intake off, if you open your hood and look down towards the intake cone, you should see a black sleeve -take it off, it will free up the intake. another thing that i would do is gears, i got mine form mustangtuning.com and they were only $130, and i took it to a mustang speed shop so i didnt have to buy the install kit,(labor was $200). if you have your heart set on exhaust id go with ltbs, the shorties are still good and the installation wont be as much BUT the lts are well worth it, espeically if you are thinking about forced induction. some other things to consider are the densecharger, or mass air system, pulleys are quick and painless as well(id go with march ot steeda).

Longtubes tend to make minor amounts more power than the shorties, but the longtubes do not pass emmissions. Shorties are cool if you want a quick install and are on a tighter budget. You also cannot pass emmissions without catalytic convertors, but the off road mid pipes (no cats) are louder. You shouldnt be shopping for the cheapest part when it comes to your car - you should be shopping for the highest quality. Its well worth the price.

Why wouldn't long tubes pass emissions?

Federal laws say all vehicles that come equipped with cats need to have them.

A catted short x-pipe can help you pass emissions with long tube. IMO, not worth the work unless you are aiming for a 11 second daily driver.
